Tournament Gameplay
WATCH OR PLAY MODEL
PLAYING VIEWERS ENTER THE TOURNAMENT BY PREPAYING THEIR TOURNAMENT FEE VIA VIRTUAL CURRENCY, DIGITAL CURRENCY, CRYPTOCURRENCY, OR BANK ACCOUNT.
- At critical junctures, the player is faced with multiple choices. What is the right weapon to dispatch a villain? Which rotting rope ladder will hold our weight across the chasm? Which key opens the underwater gate to get us out of this chamber, rapidly filling with water? What is the combination for safe where the poison antidote is stored? What is the right fighting maneuver to take down this 8-foot giant blocking our escape? What’s the answer to this riddle before the axe falls? How do I defuse this bomb with time running out?
- Situations are classics from action movies, especially B movie serials, and should feature more than three choices.
- Viewers have ten seconds. Speed is rewarded with a higher position on the tournament game ladder. Wrong choices lose points that can be made up by doing better on replay.
- Choices based on clues (verbal or visual) that come at some point in the narrative before each interactive scene. Players won't know when a clue is coming or what it consists of.
- Using AI, platform provides slightly different clues for each replay to prevent players from just rewatching episodes to get the correct answers. Microsoft ID confirms identities.
- Individual or group play. Interactive mode cannot be paused.
- Winners are determined in fractions of seconds.
- Tasks get more difficult as the series moves on and the ladder fills.
- Optimum number is 100 people (Fortnite model) for each “play” but will support smaller groups. Creating a series in a game engine allows for visual connection to video games, the potential for episodic Maroon Island stand-alone games, and the ability to build social networking.
- A new twist on choosing your adventure. “Maroon Island” will reward viewers with cash and prizes, just as in video game tournaments, using existing game technology re-configured to personalize applicable content and give the playing viewer a video game-like experience!
